Bâtie aux 12e et 13e siècles sur un sol instable, l’église Saint Pierre a été entretenue en permanence par la fabrique Saint Pierre. Le dimanche 6 décembre 1674, après les vêpres, la façade tomba d’un bloc en écrasant une boutique. Elle fut reconstruite dans le style de la Réforme Catholique du Royaume : base dorique, étage ionique et fronton curviligne.

Built at the 12th and 13th centuries on a shaky ground, the church Saint Peter was always kept by the Saint Peter select vestny. On the Sunday 6^th of december 1674, after the vespers, the whole front fell, crushing a shop. It was at that time reconstructed in the style of the Réforme Catholique du Royaume : doric bottom, ionic storey and curvilinear pediment.

En février 2009 la tour nord-ouest commence à se désolidariser de la partie plus ancienne de l’édifice. L’église est fermée au culte et au public en septembre 2009.

Après la stabilisation de l’église en 2010, les travaux de consolidation et de réhabilitations ont commencé.

In february 2009, the tower north-west started to break with the older part of the building. The church was closed at the cult and at the public in september 2009.

After the stabilisation of the church in 2010, the works of consolidation and rehabilitation started.

Visible de loin, le fin clocher vrillé de l’église Saint Pierre de Saumur est un repère. Refait en 1986, il donne l’illusion que l’édifice est en parfait état.

Visible from far, the twisted fine steeple of the Saint Peter’s church of Saumur is a landmark. It was remaked in 1986. It gives illusion that the building is in fine condition.

Le portail roman de l’entrée latérale droite a subi un fort tassement à gauche.
